Seamstress Mimi or one of her friends will explain the latest in

1700s fashions of New France and you can dress appropriately for your day’s activities. You’ll look fine in a tri-corner hat or bonnet and will enjoy experimenting with wooden sabots as you stroll the 1700s garden to select medicinal herbs and vegetables.  Walk where Jean Pierre Roma’s people cleared the primeval forest and imagine how you would have “appreciated” the life of a fisherman pioneer.  Jean Pierre’s son or one of his employees will be on hand to explain Roma’s dreams.

Help bake bread in the outdoor oven.  Practice the manners of the age as you learn to bow properly, savour a simple meal, and hear more stories of early Island life.  Learn to write with a goose quill.  Try manipulating one end of a two-man saw.  Play games with the children or gamble with the re-enactors as they teach you cards 1700s style. Follow your guide through the woods to learn about native flowers, ferns and trees. Sing, dance and party as Roma’s people did after their strenuous labours on land and sea.
