Even before the Charlottetown Driving Park first opened it doors for standard bred harness racing in 1889, harness racing had been a major part of our island heritage. Visitors from around the world still come to Prince Edward Island to experience this island tradition and visit the Kentucky of Canada. Some of the top horses and drivers from across North America arrive each August in pursuit of the prestigious Gold Cup and Saucer trophy. |

If you’ve ever imagined what it must be like to own a race horse, now is your opportunity to experience the excitement as your horse races along the rail on its way to the finish line. In partnership with Harness Racing PEI at the Charlottetown Driving Park and Entertainment Centre, we’ll make you Owner for an Evening. |

After you’ve visited the paddock areas and been introduced to your horse where you can talk to your trainer and discuss race strategy, your host will take you back up into the grandstand to the fabulous dining room. While you savour one of the Island’s most incredible buffet dinners, your host will show you how to read a racing program, how to place a wager … and if your horse wins its race, you’ll go down to the Winner’s Circle to have your picture taken with your horse and driver! Owner for an Evening experience includes personal Island host, exclusive access to paddock, buffet dinner for two, starting betting voucher, official ownership certificate, photo with horse (if it wins) and great memories. $170 per couple + taxes
Experience available Saturdays from April to December Thursdays or Fridays subject to availability (except Old Home Week August 10 to August 16, 2008)
