2009 was definitely an exceptional year for us. Ed has a new twinkle in his eyes after successful cataract surgery. His antique tractors and carpentry classes keep him amused. I enjoyed a summer fling with bicycling far more than my usual on PEI’s Confederation Trail and my three choirs keep me rejoicing musically. But November was the high point of the year for us: Ian and Mary celebrated their wedding in Sebastopol, CA November 14th after a wonderful week of family gatherings, wine tastings, cycling excursions, walks through the redwoods, BBQs, etc. We are so pleased to have Mary and her family the Mohagens now officially part of our family. Then Ed & I enjoyed a few days in San Francisco (Verdi’s Otello, the musical Wicked, CA Academy of Sciences Museum) and a brief trip to San Diego (Zoo, Sea World, Gas Light Quarter, USS Midway) before the amazing pleasure of doting on Bruce and Amber’s baby, our first grandchild Leila Christine Dewar born Nov. 20th in Calgary. As usual you may share our photos of all these either on FaceBook or you may enjoy some of our family photos. As usual I swim, sing in three choirs and fill the house with people whenever possible. And though Ed is now 69 and I’m 66, relatives and friends, old and new, conversing and sharing food together in our home are still a major part of our life as they have been since we married in 1964 and they were even through our 6 years in Saudi Arabia and 8 years in Indonesia. It is so good to be back in Ed’s family home and able to share it with B&B guests, friends and relatives. |
