Geocaching or Waymarking GPS units & training included
Enjoy the unexpected and delightful while you see PEI from a perspective other visitors miss. For a unique experience that will take you off the traditional tourist routes try this modern form of the old fashioned treasure hunt. We'll loan you a handheld GPS (Global Positioning System) device and send you off to explore. (If you’ve not used a GPS before, we’ll teach you.) You may choose to geocache, that is, search out any of the many caches hidden on PEI, or instead you may follow one of our Adventure Quests. Either way it's always fun! |

Geocaching A GPS unit is a handheld devise that shows you exact latitude and longitude coordinates and the direction you're traveling. A cache may be a container that holds local products or mementos, maps or directions to another cache, just about anything. The container may be large or small, easy to find or difficult. At our latest count there were more than 250 caches hidden within 40 km of Roseneath Country Inn. We have the coordinates of 250 of them loaded into our handheld GPS units and can easily show you how to use one. If you tell us the areas of Eastern PEI Island you'd like to go to, we will customize a day's adventure for you … or we can put something together that will keep you wondering what's around the corner. Adventure Quest (Waymarking) Essentially a walking, cycling or driving tour to locales with only the coordinates and the GPS to guide you on your way. In this variation of geocaching instead of looking for hidden caches, you'll spend a day or half-day seeking out historic sites, lighthouses, churches, or a combination of unique places that most tourists never get to. We've created clues you'll use in your quest and questions to be answered as you explore. |

Prepared Geocaching and Adventure Quest experiences for cyclists, walkers, or drivers are available daily at $ 50 + taxes ($250 refundable deposit required for each GPS unit). Customized tours require 2 weeks notice with rates varying according to the type and length of experience (usually $70 for half-day; $85 for full day). All tours include a teaching session with lemonade or tea and cookies, a test cache before you set out on your own, detailed written instructions (crib sheets!) to carry with you, and an opportunity to record your accomplishments on line at the end of the day. Historic Sites, Delightful Diversity, Lighthouses and Beaches are some of our most popular GPS Adventure Quests.
